We're continuing to share on the benefits of investing in our Mentees.
Again, Boys Will Be Boys
Recently, Mrs. Norma had the opportunity to use her gift of bringing two boys that were as 'odds' with each other.
First, let me say that it was never anything personal between the two, but again a case of 'boys being boys'.
When she took them into her office to 'do what she does best', we knew from the previous experience that she would be successful in bringing the two together.
Everybody Has A Gift
During her conversation with these two Mentees, Mrs. Norma discovered that they both had the gift of serving. Not only that, she knew that they needed to make good use of their energy.
Introducing... The Snack Boys!
During our sessions, we serve snacks to the children while they complete their homework. She came up with the role of "Snack Boys".
These two will be responsible for distributing the snacks. They quickly embraced their roles and now make sure that everyone receives a snack. They are also aware of the Mentees that have allergies and will say, "Oh, so and so can't have that, we have to give them something else."
The Snack Boys don't have to be reminded of their roles, they come in ready to serve.
The Return On Investment
The ROI for the two of them are listed below:
- They are focused on their roles and take them seriously.
- They are no longer at odds with each other. This is not only a ROI for the two, but also for the other Mentees. As they have upfront seats to how differences can be resolved without violence.
- They are learning the importance of leadership and servanthood.
- We all delight in their eagerness to serve others.
Their roles as Snack Boys sets a firm foundation that can be built upon for the rest of their lives.
Let's look for ways to make investments in the lives of our children.
