Let's Talk About Investments
Earlier this week during our Goals and Visions session, we discussed Investments.
First, we defined the words, investing and investment.
We asked the question, "What are some things you could invest in?"
The Answers
I will be honest with you, their answers were amazing!
We are very observant of our mentees, and we make note of their engagement during our assignments.
Before I could finish the instructions for the assignment, one of the most laid-back mentees had begun writing! This was exciting for us.
Why Was It Exciting?
His excitement let us know the following:
1) He's interested in the topic.
2) We now know how to further engage him.
He completed the first section first and was eagerly wanting to share with us his answers.
His excitement caused the others to want to share their answers as well!
A Ripple Effect
Everyone raised their hands to share their answers. Before one child could finish, another was ready to share their answers.
The answers were coming so fast, we had to slow down the pace.
One of the answers was 'trash'. Another asked, "How could trash be an investment?"
This question sparked a great conversation. As she so eloquently answered, her answer prompted the others to think outside of the box.
We noticed their heads bowed and their fingers quickly moving across the paper.
Have you ever watched the face of someone and can see their mind thinking? It's almost like you can see their thoughts turning in their head.
It is quite a sight to witness. Especially, when we know how much time our children are spending playing video games.
During the rest of the session each child shared their answers. In the coming weeks, we will share with you their answers and the discussion process.
What are you in you investing in?
We ate Girls and Boys of Character are investing in our mentees.
